Call Carter

The fastest way to get an answer

Call. The number on this page reaches the business directly, and during working hours you are most likely to get Carter rather than a call centre or an answering service. If you want a straight answer to a straight question — do you cover my street, can you paint this material, roughly when could you start — the phone is faster than any form.

Email suits the questions that come with attachments. Photographs of the surface you are worried about, a paint code you are trying to match, an HOA approval letter with its list of permitted colours. Those are much easier to answer well when we can see them.

The estimate form is the right route when you already know you want a quote. It asks the questions we would otherwise ask on the phone, which means the walkthrough starts further along.

What to have ready when you get in touch

None of this is required, and having it makes the first conversation considerably more useful.

Your address, or at least your town — it is the first thing that determines whether we can help you and when. What the surface is: wood siding, fibre cement, vinyl, brick, stucco, plaster or drywall inside. Roughly when the house was built, because pre-1978 changes how exterior and interior preparation has to be handled.

Whether you are in an HOA with an architectural review committee, and whether your colour is already approved. In Cary and the larger master-planned communities this is the single most common reason a start date moves, and knowing it up front saves everyone a fortnight of assumption.

Photographs of anything that is failing. Peeling, a stain that keeps coming back, a soft patch of trim, black growth on a shaded wall. A photo often tells us more than a description, and occasionally it tells us the problem is not a painting problem at all — a water stain that returns is a roof or plumbing question before it is a ceiling question.

What happens after you make contact

We agree a time for Carter to walk the property. Estimates are free, and the walk is genuinely a walk: he looks at the surfaces, probes the vulnerable points on exterior wood, and tells you what he finds — including anything that needs repair before painting is worth discussing.

You then get a written scope. It separates preparation from paint, so you can see what is being washed, repaired, caulked and primed rather than reading a single number. That format also makes it straightforward to hold our quote next to someone else's and see where they differ, which we would encourage.

There is no obligation attached to any of that, and no follow-up campaign if you decide against it.

Questions worth asking any painter before you hire them

You are probably getting more than one quote, and the useful questions are not the ones most people ask. Price and start date are easy to compare and tell you the least.

Ask what happens between the wash and the first coat. This is the single most revealing question in the trade. A specific answer — failed caulk cut out and replaced, bare wood spot-primed, rot repaired before coating, cabinet doors degreased before sanding — describes a defined job. A vague answer describes a number someone hopes you will accept.

Ask how they handle a pre-1978 house. If yours was built before 1978, disturbing painted surfaces brings EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting requirements into play: contained work areas, controlled scraping, HEPA cleanup, proper disposal. That work costs hours, and it is the most common invisible difference between two quotes on an older Durham or inner-Raleigh home.

Ask who will actually be on site, and who you call if something is wrong. Ask whether the person quoting the job will be the person inspecting it at the end. And ask what they would refuse to do — a painter who has never talked a customer out of anything has not been paying attention.

Hours, coverage and the honest limits

Published office hours are weekdays, nine to five. Crews are frequently on site outside those hours, particularly in summer when exterior work starts early to get ahead of surface temperature, but the phone is most reliably answered during them.

We are a service-area business, which means there is no shop to visit — we come to you. Our territory is Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Wake Forest and Durham, and each of those has its own page describing what we actually see in that town's housing.

If you are just outside that list, ask rather than assume. We cover more of the wider Triangle than we name, and we would rather give you a clear no than leave you guessing.

Getting in touch

Do you charge for estimates?

No. Estimates are free throughout our service area, and Carter carries them out himself rather than sending a commissioned salesperson.

How quickly will you get back to me?

We do not publish a guaranteed response time, because a promise we cannot keep in every week of the year is worth nothing. Calling during weekday office hours is the fastest route to a real answer.

Do you have a shop or showroom I can visit?

No. Revive is a service-area business with no public street address — we come to you. That is also why our structured data describes the territory we serve rather than listing an address we do not have.

Can you match a colour I already have?

Usually. Send a photograph plus the paint code if you have it, or keep a chip or an offcut for the walkthrough. Matching from a photograph alone is unreliable because screens and lighting both shift colour.
